"There's an App for that!"
We all know that the introduction of iPods into the marketplace have opened up the door for endless possibilities for educational use. The iPod Touch and iPhone have created even bigger possibilities. Apple now uses the slogan "There's an app for that" to make consumers more aware of the uses of the iTouch and iPhone. Over the next several weeks I want to highlight some of the apps that we have found to be educational, useful or just plain old fun. The one thing that I have found is searching and finding apps within the iTunes store can be a daunting task. New apps are added daily and frequent visits are a must if you want to stay on top of the app world.
Let's begin with two of my favorites for the preschool world. Bumblebee Touchbook ($.99) is a truly interactive touchbook. Touch any word to see it animated and spoken, touch the narration bee to hear the entire page read. It contains simple interactive learning activities from word recognition to counting.
Wheels on the Bus ($.99) is an interactive musical journey based on the popular children's song. Interact with the bus by spinning wheels, opening and closing the bus doors, pop bubbles, make a dog bark, and swish the wipers. Entertaining for young and old alike!
Other preschool finds: Five Little Monkeys (.$99), Five Little Ducks ($.99), Memory Match (Free)
